Richland is Stewart County's seat, located about 30 miles northeast of Columbus via US 27 and State Route 39. This small city of 1,600 sits in Georgia's Chattahoochee River valley amid rolling hills. Most visitors arrive from Columbus or take I-185 south from Atlanta before connecting to US 27 north. The 1896 courthouse on the town square remains the centerpiece of this rural community.
