Reserve is a tiny mountain town in western New Mexico that serves as Catron County's seat despite having only 400 residents. Located at 5,800 feet elevation, it's reached via US Highway 180 from Silver City (74 miles) or through Socorro and Magdalena from Albuquerque (180 miles). The town serves ranchers and Gila Wilderness visitors, with its 1928 stone courthouse governing one of America's least populated counties.
