Rensselaer is a farming community in northwest Indiana, about 80 miles from Chicago via US Route 231. The town sits where US 231 meets State Road 114, with Interstate 65 accessible 30 miles east. Saint Joseph's College, a small Catholic school founded in 1889, dominates the east side of town with its red-brick campus.
