Red Lick is a small East Texas town of about 1,300 people, located 20 miles southwest of Texarkana in the piney woods. Take US 259 south from Texarkana, then FM 1398 west to reach it. The town sits among rolling hills covered in pine forests typical of this timber region. Texarkana Regional Airport is 25 miles northeast for air travelers. Red Lick gets its name from a natural salt lick that historically attracted deer and wildlife to the area.
