Red Level sits along US 331 in south Alabama, about 40 miles south of Montgomery and 35 miles north of the Florida border. The highway connects north to I-65 and south toward Crestview and the Gulf beaches. State Route 55 runs east-west through town, linking to Andalusia and Opp. The small farming community of 621 people lies in Alabama's Coastal Plain, where the hot, humid summers and mild winters support year-round agriculture. The town gets its name from the distinctive red clay soil that early settlers used as a landmark.
