Red Corral is a small foothill community in Amador County, reached primarily via State Route 49 from Jackson about 8 miles north. Most visitors arrive through Jackson using Highway 88 from Stockton or Highway 16 from Sacramento. The area sits at 1,200 feet elevation with a Mediterranean climate and over 250 sunny days annually. The historic Red Corral Store from the 1850s remains the community's central landmark and gathering spot.
