Red Cliff perches at 8,750 feet in a narrow Eagle River valley, serving as a mountain waystation between Vail and Leadville. Most visitors arrive via I-70 to Highway 24 south from either Minturn (7 miles) or Vail Pass (12 miles). The scenic route from Denver takes two hours through the Eisenhower Tunnel, while southbound travelers connect from Leadville. You can still spot remnants of the old Denver and Rio Grande Railroad grade carved into the surrounding canyon walls.
