Rattan is a small Oklahoma town of 274 people in the forested hills of Pushmataha County. Located on US Highway 271, it's about 15 miles south of Antlers and 60 miles from Interstate 40. The area is heavily wooded with pine and hardwood forests typical of southeastern Oklahoma. The town's streets are notably shaded by towering pine trees that form a natural canopy over the community.
