Rantoul sits along Interstate 57 about 20 miles north of Champaign-Urbana in east-central Illinois farmland. This former Air Force base town connects easily to Chicago via I-57 north or to southern Illinois destinations. The Octave Chanute Aerospace Museum displays vintage military aircraft in a restored hangar from the old Chanute Air Force Base.
