Quinton is a small eastern Oklahoma town of about 950 people, located 15 miles southeast of McAlester via US Highway 270. The area features rolling hills where forests meet prairie, with hot summers and mild winters prone to occasional ice storms. Most visitors use Highway 270 as the main route, connecting to US-69 through McAlester for longer trips to Oklahoma City or Dallas. The town was named after early settlers who ran a trading post along the historic Texas Road cattle trail.
