Quenemo is a small Kansas town of 353 people on US Highway 56, about 45 miles southwest of Kansas City. The historic east-west route makes it a convenient stop between larger cities like Topeka and Council Grove. Rolling prairie surrounds the community, and the town's name comes from a Kansa Indian word meaning "smoky water."
