Purdy is a small farming town in southwestern Missouri's Barry County, home to about 1,100 people in the Ozark hills. Take US-60 west from Springfield for 45 miles, then Route 37 south for 15 miles to reach town. The area has hot summers and mild winters typical of the Missouri Ozarks. The town's 1902 one-room schoolhouse still stands on Main Street.
