Providence is a tiny rural Alabama community of 112 people in Marengo County, reached via Highway 28 from Demopolis about 15 miles east. The town sits in Alabama's historic Black Belt region, surrounded by farmland and pine forests with that distinctive dark, fertile soil that gives the area its name.
