Prosser is a small agricultural city in Washington's Yakima Valley wine country, accessible via Interstate 82 from Seattle (200 miles) or Spokane. State Route 22 connects it to the Tri-Cities area 30 miles southeast. The Columbia River creates fertile bottomland perfect for vineyards in this high desert climate. Prosser calls itself the "Birthplace of Washington Wine" because pioneering grape researcher Walter Clore conducted his groundbreaking work here in the 1960s.
