Prineville, Oregon's high desert county seat, sits 36 miles northeast of Bend via US Highway 26. This former logging town transformed when Facebook built its first company-owned data center here in 2011. The drive from Portland takes about 3.5 hours through the Cascades, while most visitors arrive through Bend. Highway 26 continues northeast toward John Day, and Route 380 heads north into the Ochoco National Forest.
