Primera is a small South Texas city in Cameron County, about 15 miles northwest of Brownsville near the Mexican border. Take US Highway 83, the main valley corridor, to reach it from either Brownsville (15 miles east) or McAllen (45 miles west). Valley International Airport in Harlingen is 20 miles away. The city preserves some original colonia adobe buildings from early 1900s Mexican land grants.
