Powhattan is a tiny farming community in northeastern Kansas with just 74 residents. Located on Highway 20 between Hiawatha and Seneca, it's surrounded by corn and soybean fields typical of the Great Plains. The nearest major city is Topeka, about 90 miles southeast. The town's old cemetery contains limestone markers from the original pioneer families who settled this area in the 1800s.
