Powhatan is a small Lawrence County town along US Highway 63 in northeastern Arkansas, about 15 miles south of Walnut Ridge. Most visitors arrive via US 63 from either direction, with Memphis about 90 minutes south and Little Rock two hours via US 67 and US 63. The town sits in the gently rolling Arkansas Delta region among cotton fields and farms. Several early 1900s buildings still line the main street, remnants of its days as a waypoint between river towns and inland communities.
