Powellsville is a tiny farming community in northeastern North Carolina, home to just 277 people in rural Bertie County. Located along US Highway 13 about 15 miles from the Virginia line, it sits amid tobacco fields and pine forests in the Roanoke River basin. The town connects easily to Ahoskie (10 minutes north) and Windsor (15 minutes south) via US 13, while I-95 access is about 45 miles southwest near Rocky Mount. The area's claim to fame is its historic Roanoke River crossing, established by early settlers in the 1700s.
