Poughkeepsie sits on the Hudson River about 75 miles north of NYC, connected by I-84 east-west and US-9 north-south. The Mid-Hudson Bridge links to the Thruway on the west bank. Metro-North trains run direct to Grand Central, and Dutchess County Airport is 4 miles south of downtown. The old railroad bridge is now a 1.28-mile pedestrian walkway 212 feet above the Hudson.
