Porter is a small Oklahoma town of 623 people located 15 miles southeast of Tulsa via US Highway 69. Most visitors drive south from Tulsa through Broken Arrow, while State Highway 51 provides east-west connections. The community sits in the Arkansas River valley with rolling hills and mixed grassland. Porter's municipal park pavilion from the 1980s still hosts the annual Labor Day celebration each September.
