Portage is a small Wood County community of about 500 people in northwestern Ohio, accessible via State Route 199. Most visitors drive from Toledo (25 miles northwest via I-75 and Route 582) or Bowling Green (15 miles east via Route 6). The town sits amid flat farmland typical of the region, and you can still trace remnants of the old Baltimore and Ohio Railroad line that once connected rural communities here.
