Port Byron is a small Finger Lakes village 25 miles west of Syracuse, accessed via Route 38 through Auburn. The community sits on Owasco Lake's northern shore, surrounded by farmland and offering boat launches and marinas for lake recreation. Winters bring heavy lake-effect snow while summers are warm and humid. The village features one of central New York's few working water-powered gristmills.
