Port Byron is a small river town of about 1,800 people along the Rock River in northwestern Illinois. Take Route 84 north from I-80 near the Quad Cities, or I-88 west to Route 84 north from the east. The town sits 25 miles northeast of Rock Island and Moline, with Route 84 serving as both the main route through town and the primary connection to larger cities. Port Byron hosts an annual Carp Fest celebrating the Rock River's abundant rough fish.
