Pomeroy is a farming community of 540 people in north-central Iowa's corn and soybean country. Highway 4 runs through town, connecting to Fort Dodge 25 miles southeast and US 20 for cross-state travel. Most long-distance routes go south to I-80 near Des Moines, about 90 miles away. The historic grain elevator dominates the skyline and serves as a working landmark visible for miles across the prairie.
