Polson sits at the south end of Flathead Lake in northwest Montana, positioned where the lake narrows toward the Flathead River. US Highway 93 runs right through town, connecting north to Kalispell (52 miles) and south to Missoula (65 miles), while Highway 35 follows the lake's eastern shore toward Bigfork. The area hosts Montana's annual Cherry Festival each July, celebrating orchards that produce remarkably sweet fruit in the lake's unique microclimate.
