Point is a small East Texas town of about 900 people, located 70 miles east of Dallas in the Piney Woods. Take I-20 east to Terrell, then Highway 34 north through Ben Wheeler to reach it from Dallas, or Highway 155 south from Tyler. The town sits on a prominent point of land overlooking the Sabine River bottom, which gave it its name when early settlers used the elevated spot as a landmark.
