Plato is a tiny Missouri town in Texas County, reached via Highway 17 about 25 miles southeast of Houston, Missouri. Most visitors arrive from Springfield by taking US 63 south then Highway 17. The area sits in the Ozark foothills with rolling countryside and a continental climate. With under 200 residents, Plato represents classic rural Missouri, and the historic Plato School building still stands in the community center.
