Plainwell is a small city along the Kalamazoo River in southwestern Michigan, about 15 miles from Kalamazoo and 45 miles from Grand Rapids. US-131 provides direct highway access via Exit 42, while M-89 connects east-west to surrounding communities. The restored Plainwell Paper Mill dominates the historic downtown with its impressive early 1900s brick architecture.
