Plainville is a tiny farming town of 183 people in western Illinois, about 20 miles northeast of Quincy. Most visitors drive Highway 104 north from Quincy or take I-172 to Highway 104 from Springfield. The town sits on prairie land that was originally surveyed as part of the Military Tract for War of 1812 veterans.
