Pittsburg is a former mining town in southeastern Kansas that's home to Pittsburg State University. Located on US 69 about 120 miles south of Kansas City, it connects to Joplin (20 miles), Fort Scott (35 miles), and regional Kansas communities via US 160 and K-7. The restored 1924 Memorial Auditorium downtown still hosts concerts and theater in its original Art Deco design.
