Pittsburg sits where two major rivers meet to form the California Delta, about 45 miles east of San Francisco via Highway 4. Most visitors take I-80 to Highway 4 east, while locals use it daily to reach BART stations for Bay Area commutes. The city's deep-water port is the only one between Sacramento and San Francisco Bay.
