Pioneer is a small farming community in rural Hendry County, about 30 miles northeast of Fort Myers via State Road 80. The town of 868 sits in Florida's cattle country, surrounded by ranches and agricultural fields. Most visitors arrive on SR 80, which connects Pioneer to Fort Myers in the west and Lake Okeechobee to the east, or via US 27 through nearby Clewiston. The annual Pioneer Days festival each February features local barbecue and country music at the community center.
