Pineville sits just south of Charlotte along the South Carolina border, connected to the metro area by I-485 and US 521. The original Bojangles restaurant opened here in 1977, launching the now-famous Southern chicken chain. Charlotte Douglas International Airport is about 20 miles northeast via I-485.
