Pine Mountain Lake is a gated mountain community in Tuolumne County's Sierra Nevada foothills, about 45 minutes east of Modesto via Highway 120. The main access road continues toward Yosemite's Big Oak Flat entrance, making it a popular stopping point for park visitors. From the Bay Area, take I-580 to I-205 to Highway 120 east through the Central Valley and into the mountains. The community sits at 3,000 feet elevation, offering cooler summers than the valley below and featuring an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Billy Bell Jr.
