Take Highway 52 south from the Twin Cities (70 miles) or north from Iowa to reach this agricultural community of 3,580 people. The town sits amid rolling prairie and crop fields, serving local farmers and Highway 52 commuters. Pine Island features one of Minnesota's rare surviving round barns from 1910.
