Pine Apple is a tiny Alabama town of 125 people in Wilcox County, about 40 miles southwest of Montgomery via US Highway 31 through Greenville. The rural community sits in Alabama's Black Belt region among rolling agricultural countryside. Long-distance visitors typically route through Montgomery from Birmingham or Mobile, while local traffic uses State Route 10 for east-west connections. The town got its unusual name from a 19th-century plantation that grew pineapples in hothouses.
