Pinconning is a small lakeside town on Saginaw Bay, about 20 miles northeast of Bay City via US-23. Most visitors arrive on US-23, either from Bay City (25 minutes) or as part of longer Lake Huron touring routes. The town of 1,400 sits where farmland meets the bay in Michigan's Thumb region. Pinconning calls itself the "Cheese Capital of Michigan," producing its famous aged cheese in natural caves since 1915.
