Pinckney is a small lakeside community about an hour northwest of Detroit, reachable via I-94 to M-36 west. The town of 1,900 sits amid the rolling hills and numerous lakes of southeastern Michigan's recreation country. It's the gateway to Pinckney Recreation Area, one of the state's largest park systems with over 11,000 acres of lakes and trails. The downtown features a beautifully restored 1800s railroad depot that serves as the local history museum.
