Pilot Rock is a small farming town in northeastern Oregon's Blue Mountains foothills, accessible via Highway 395 from Pendleton (25 miles north) or John Day (60 miles south). The main route connects through Pendleton to Interstate 84, linking Portland and Boise. The town's namesake is a 200-foot volcanic rock formation that served as an Oregon Trail landmark and still towers over the surrounding wheat fields.
