Pikeville is a small Wayne County town of about 800 people along the Neuse River in eastern North Carolina. It's about 60 miles southeast of Raleigh via US Highway 117, which connects north to Wilson and south toward Jacksonville. The town sits in fertile river valley farmland with a humid subtropical climate. Its historic early 1900s railroad depot still stands as a reminder of Pikeville's origins as an Atlantic Coast Line junction.
