Pierz is a farming town of 1,400 people in central Minnesota, about 100 miles northwest of Minneapolis. Take I-94 west to St. Cloud, then US Highway 10 northwest to reach town. Highway 25 connects north to Brainerd's lake country and south to Little Falls. The town sits in corn and soybean country with a restored 1920s one-room schoolhouse at Pioneer Park.
