Pierson is a small farming town in western Volusia County, about 30 miles from Daytona Beach. Reach it via US Highway 17 from DeLand or State Road 40 from the Ocala National Forest. Most long-distance visitors come from Interstate 4, exiting at DeLand. The area is famous for its massive fern farming operations, with greenhouse complexes stretching for miles along the highways.
