Pierron is a farming town of about 400 people in Bond County, Illinois, roughly 50 miles northeast of St. Louis. Take I-70 to Exit 36, then follow local roads north through corn and soybean country. Route 127 connects north to Greenville and south to Nashville. The town's massive concrete grain elevator, built in the early 1900s, still towers over Main Street and operates during harvest season.
