Phoenix is a small lakeside village in central New York, sitting where the Oswego River meets Lake Ontario about 35 miles northwest of Syracuse. Most visitors arrive via I-81 north to Route 104 west, then Route 3 north, or follow Route 104 east from Rochester along the lake shore. The village sits at Routes 3 and 481, with Syracuse Hancock International Airport 40 miles southeast. Named for the historic Phoenix Mills, the 19th-century industrial complex used water power from the Oswego River that flows directly through town.
