Pettibone is a tiny farming town of 65 people in central North Dakota's Kidder County, about 70 miles southeast of Bismarck. Take Highway 3 south from Steele or north from Interstate 94 to reach this prairie community. Most trips are to Steele (20 miles) for services or Bismarck for work and shopping. The towering grain elevator serves as a landmark visible for miles across the surrounding wheat fields.
