Petronila is a tiny rural community of about 120 people in Nueces County, 25 miles northwest of Corpus Christi via Highway 44. The flat South Texas landscape features working cattle ranches, and the area maintains its connection to Mexican land grant history through its namesake, Petronila de la Garza, whose family once owned vast holdings here.
