Percy is a farming town of about 900 people in southern Illinois, roughly an hour southeast of St. Louis. Take I-64 east to the Sparta exit, then head south on local roads about 10 miles to reach Percy via State Route 150. The town sits in rolling prairie country between the Mississippi River and Shawnee National Forest, serving the surrounding corn and soybean farms. Percy still has one of the area's few remaining one-room schoolhouses from the early 1900s.
