Penelope is a tiny farming town of 235 people in Hill County, about 30 miles southwest of Waco. Take Highway 171 west from I-35 near Hillsboro, then head south on local roads. The area features rolling blackland prairie with limestone hills and working ranches. Its annual Fourth of July barbecue and fireworks show draws visitors from across the county.
