Pecan Hill is a small Ellis County city about 30 miles south of Dallas, home to 723 residents. Take I-35E south to Highway 287, then local roads west to reach it. Most traffic flows north to Waxahachie or toward the Dallas-Fort Worth area via Highway 287 and I-35E. The volunteer fire department's station doubles as the town's main community hub.
